What is the name of that mental disorder where you laugh at inappropriate times? I thought I once heard of it; maybe I'm making it up. But I thought there was an actual disorder... any ideas?

  1. As other people said, Tourette's is one disorder where people laugh or swear inappropriately.

But inappropriate laughter also occurs in schizophrenia.

  2. tourettes

  3. Tourettes makes people cuss and swear for no apparent reason .    I dont know if thats what you mean, tho

  4. those can be siezures sometimes.

  5. schizophrenia

  6. Certain brain tumors can cause this symptom or a morbid sense of humor.

  7. high?

  8. If you mean the person laughs and has ticks etc  radomly ...you might be talking about Terrettes Syndrome...spelling?

  9. tourettes syndrome i think

  10. Are you talking about "Turette's Syndrome" ? ....it's more of a compulsion beyond ones control rather than a mental disorder ! Not a Doctor at all......so take it for what it's worth ! *S*

  11. Pseudobulbar Affect or Involuntary Emotional Expression Disorder (IEED)

  12. This could be a symptom of many disorders.  Post traumatic stress disorder (an anxiety disorder) can cause disassociation from one's feelings and some people laugh instead of crying or getting angry.

Some people with other anxiety disorders laugh when they are embarrassed.  Epilepsy (if the seizure epicenter is in the right place) Tourrette's as others said and any psychosis if the hallucination is funny.  So, I guess I would need more symptoms to narrow it down, but that is just a few possible causes

  13. tourette syndrome? not sure

  14. I don't think this is right because of the laughing at random times but are you talking about Tourettes?

  15. sounds like it may be a form of terrets syndrome (I think i screwed up the spelling though)
