What is the name of that program that repeats actions for a large number of files?

I can't remember what it was called.

I have to set the margins by hand separately for a whole bunch of files, one at a time, and I remember reading about a program that will do it for you, repeating what you did, for the rest of the files... it was donkey something??

You need to explain more of what you are trying to do and the files you are working with.  Macros will help you within MS Office Word and Excel.  Just click on record macro and give it a name.  It will record what you are doing and every time you run the macro it will do the same actions you did.  Might be best to keep the macros short and build them more complex as you feel comfortable.

If so... that's a COMMAND LINE editor.

What are you trying to do, and I'll tell you how to do it on a large number of files.

You could code a little BAT file.
