I need to find a Dr for gallstones.What is the name of the Dr who treats it?

  1. A General Surgeon is the person to see but don't expect any 'treatment' for it. A surgeon's job is to cut., so surgery is where you'll be steered. That  surgery isn't too bad nowadays, either.

Talk to your primary care about a referral.  I saw a gastroenterologist when I had gallbladder problems, and then he sent me to a sugeon to take it out.  If you've been diagnosed with gallstones, and you have been told you need surgery to treat them, then you just need a general surgeon.  If they want to do further tests or other treatment, the primary care doctor should be able to tell you who to see, and that will probably be a gastroenterologist.
