What is the name of the Part that the steering cable coes in on a 150 Johnson?

my stepdad's cousin has a bassboat with a 150 johnson on it and the steering cables are frozen, he got one lose but broke the bracket that the other goes in, What is the bracket called?

  1. not enough info,, what type of steering?, the single cable type has an extention sleeve conecting rod, witch bolts to the engine mount bracket with a ball and socket

    sounds like you taking about something else, must be an older style


  2. If you're talking about the places in the motor that the cables hook to, that would either be the shift linkage, or the throttle linkage, depending on which cable it is. If the part that broke is in the control itself, I believe those are called cams, but not certain, however, if the broken part is in the control box, you'd be better off trying to find a good, used set of controls w/cables, or, new cables shouldn't run over $25.00 each, depending on the length you need.
