While in the UK in 1984, I heard an entire album by a British comedian that was a verbatim copy of George Carlin's act. The substance of the material was decidely American, and there is absolutely no chance that the plagiarism was the other way 'round. With the Atlantic ocean providing something of a cultural buffer in those pre-internet days, the scoundrel succeeded in duping some Brits into believing that Carlin's humor was his own. I have wondered since then, did the uncreative sod ever own up to his thievery? Who was this lamentable comic failure? With Carlin's recent demise, perhaps his forger will set the record straight himself in the interest of honesty and for the benefit of historical accuracy.
