Hi

I went hiking with my parents to the English Lake District in Ullswater once. We climbed what was supposedly known as the biggest/highest mountain in that area. I sort of starts wide then goes steep the higher you get. I am not sure if it is Sriding Edge because that is in Keswick. Anybody go any ideas?

Thanks!

  1. The highest peak in the Lake District is Scafell Pike, but Helvellyn is near Glenridding which is south of Ullswater.

  2. I think you're talking about Helvellyn - that is near Ullswater, and Striding Edge is one of the routes up it. When you got to the top, was there sort of a large cairn in the shape of a cross (plus sign) made out of pile up stones? If so, it was Helvellyn you were on.

The highest peak in the Lake District (and England) is Scafell, but thats not near Ullswater...
