I can't remember the name of the film it is.

The original film was 'Les Visiteurs' and starred Jean Reno. It was originally in French but was later remade in English, again starring Jean Reno and titled 'The Visitors'. I also liked it.

IMDb synopsis:

A knight (Jean Reno) and his valet (Christian Clavier) are plagued by a witch, and to repair the damage they make use of the services of a wizard (Malcolm McDowell). However, something goes wrong and they are transported from the 12th century to the year 2000. There the knight meets some of his family and slowly learns what this new century is like. However, he still needs to get back to the 12th century to deal with the witch, so he starts looking for a wizard.

Cast includes Christina Applegate, Tara Reid and Matt Ross.

This is a remake of the French film "Les Visiteurs" (1993).
