  1. As far as the world, the largest cathedral is found in Southern Germany.

The 'Ulm' is home to the largest gothic 14th century stone  cathedral.  The engineering and architecture was done by Matthäus Böblinger.

This holds the world's tallest church spire at a height of 161 m or 528 ft high.

Interestingly enough, here are the official rankings:  http://www.aviewoncities.com/buildings/c...

  2. The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine.

The mother church of the Episcopal Diocese of New York and the seat of its Bishop, and therefore a true cathedral.

Measuring in at 121,000 square feet, this massive Gothic Revival church begun in 1892 and still unfinished.

Ralph Adams Cram was the chief architect.

The Cathedral is located at 112th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, one block east of Broadway.

The world's largest religious structure is St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, but it is too big - ironically - and too universal to be considered a cathedral.
