  1. Charles Howard was his owner and Tom Smith was his trainer. They say that somehow these men who were broken for their individual reasons found hope and inspiration in this little horse!

  2. Seabiscuit was a crooked legged racehorse that started off barely winning claiming races, then going on the win against Triple Crown winner War Admiral. The name of the owner was Charles Howard, Buick salesman that started Buick's dealerships in California. He was wealthy. The jockey was Red Pollard. He was from Canada and started basically from nothing. He rode at bushtracks before starting at the big tracks. (In the famous match race, with War Admiral and Seabiscuit, George Woolf rode in place of Red Pollard, who broke his leg earlier) The trainer was Tom Smith. He was a great trainer that knew how the horse was. Seabiscuit won many big races, including the 1940 Santa Anita Handicap, and the match race with War Admiral. The movie was great! It is based off the book, Seabiscuit: An American Legend. The book is very good too!
