I had a prescribed antibiotic for a pnuemonia and it cleared up my face like no other wash or soap has ever done. It was awesome. I forgot the name of it though. I think it started with a "D". Does anyone know what the active ingredient is that does that and can I buy it?

  1. doxycycline

  2. Chances are, you would need to go back to the doctor that wrote the prescription for you to find out what it is.  You might even be able to contact the pharmacy that filled the prescription.  Also, if it is a prescription, you probably need a permit to get a hold of the active ingredients.

  3. I'd agree with the guess of doxycycline, for two reasons.  First, it is sometimes prescribed for pneumonia.  Second, acne is generally treated with a tetracycline, usually minocycline, doxycycline, or sometimes tetracycline itself.  The only one that starts with a D is doxycycline.

You can buy it with a prescription from your doctor.  My teenaged daughter pretty much lives on minocycline.
