The other answerers are correct.  Energy is absolutely not made, in the mitochondria or elsewhere.  However, the process by which energy is transferred from carbon bonds in glucose into chemical energy stored in ATP is called cellular respiration and involves glycolysis, the krebs cycle, and the electron transport chain with chemiosmosis.
