  1. At the Wythenshawe end there's the Airport Hotel,a very popular pub for families in the summer, the only pub I know at the other end is the Romper, but that's not that close to the runway.

  2. The Airport Hotel, been there a couple of times.

  3. The Airport Hotel (The Original Airport Hotel)

is located less than a half a mile from the main airport terminals

at the end of runway No 1 of Manchester Airport,  United Kingdom.

It is operated by Frederic Robinson Ltd of Stockport, United Kingdom.

The Frederick Robinson brewery have over 150 years of brewing excellence,

upheld by five generations of the Robinson Family.

The Public House has a very large Beer Garden

about the size of half a football pitch at its rear,

which overlooks the runway and taxiway

of Manchester Airport Runway  No 1.

"It Has to be seen, to be believed literally 50 feet from the runway"

The Beer Garden is equipped with

a Brand New Adventure Play area (Installed Spring 2004)

Bouncy Castles are also in operation at Peak Times

    so the kids are happy.

    Summertime is our Busiest Time

Up to Date Flight information is available

in our large family room via 1 of our 3

    large screen televisions.

  4. The Romper

  5. the pig and whistle

  6. The Airport Hotel.  Rather than a dump from wikid pedia....a truth.

In the 70's it was a real pub, serving beautifully kept Robinson's Ale.

It still serves Robbies, but it's not as good.

The rear garden is now a play area, it used to be a lawned seating area, in fact it could have been a bowling green before I frequented the place in the 70's.

It is populated with Aircraft enthusiasts, and it opens early (7am ish!) for them, serving breakfasts (But no beer until licence hours).

From the side of the pub, the aircraft about to take off would be within 50 yards as they turned off taxiway to join runway, but most departurs now use Runway 2, leaving Runway 1 for arrivals, so the only close-up pictures you will get are of an aircraft on absolute finals.

If you drank there in the 70's, (73 to 76) Email me.

From a beautiful old pub to what now appears to be a crumby place, but at least it's a pub which is busy and satisfying a need, in a world where pubs are shutting and being replaced by "Youth venues".

  7. Donkeystone or the Quayside.

  8. the Romper thats near the avaition viewing park you quite often see yellow recovery trucks parked up down there with the drivers sleeping(oops ment to say waiting on their next job)

  9. dunno but iv'e been there when i was going to florida on holiday. I'm going again in June so i will look at the name for you and get back to you!!!!!!!!!!
