There is a beautiful purple, sometimes white, wildflower blooming along the roads in Pennsylvania now. Can anyone tell me their name?

  1. You're probably seeing dame's rocket/dame's violet:  http://www.swallowtailgardenseeds.com/as...  It's a member of the mustard family and has a very nice scent.  There's an intermediate purple/pink color as well:  http://www.data2action.com/wildflowers/i...

You can tell for sure if it's this plant (and not phlox, which is similar: http://gardengiftsgalore.com/pics/Phlox_... ) by the number of petals - dame's violet has 4, but phlox has 5.
