Question:

What is the name of the restaurant/bar on the water in Boston?

I'm sure there are many, but I was at a place several years ago that had an outside bar/dining place. I don't remember exactly where it was, but I'm pretty sure it was close to Faneuil Hall/Gov't Center, perhaps on a pier? It wasn't Anthony's Pier 4 - it was further north. Maybe through the north end?

More importantly, I'm looking for a place to meet friends for casual dinner/drinks on Saturday night. We're all coming from different locations out of town. We want a place that is nice, but not expensive. We're in our early 30's, so we don't want something better suited for the 21-yr-old crowd.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

  1. Could it be "The Sail Loft" you're talking about? It's kinda of a divey place, near the North End. So maybe it's not what you were talking about.

  2. You may be thinking about the Barking Crab. For a nice spot for drinks, try The Foundation Lounge in Kenmore Square

  3. Joe's American Bar is on the water on Atlantic Ave in the North End and it has outdoor seating.  Ristorante Fiore on Hanover Street, also in the North End has reasonably priced Italian food, valet parking,  and a roof top deck for cocktails.  The North End is the place to go.  There are hundreds of restaurants and since the Big Dig there are beautiful parks to walk thru.

  4. There is an excellent restaurant with outside dinning right next to old iron side. Sorry that I don't know the name, but it is nice to view the harbor in the evening there.

  5. The Crab House..

  6. Legal Seafoods is a great Boston standby.  There is one down on the water near the aquarium with outdoor seating.  I would call and make reservations, it can get quite busy.

  7. The Barking Crab?
