  1. Autopitista del Sol.

$100 00 in tolls but well worth it.

What used to be a six to seven hour drive has been cut to 3 and a half.

  2. There are many roads from the D.F. to the Pacific. The best known (and the fastest) goes directly to Acapulco and it is called "Autopista del Sol" (Freeway of the Sun). It costs about 500 pesos (about 50 dollars). Depending on how fast you like to drive, from the southern edge of Mexico City to the "Diana" monument on Acapulco's seaside boulivard is 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 hours.

-All good highways in Mexico cost A LOT! Mexico and Japan have the most expensive toll highways in the world! -

(If you do go, when you arrive in Acapulco do NOT take the toll "Maxitunel". Its a total rip-off. It runs under a hill and goes directly to the beach area. However it costs 80 pesos and takes 5 minutes. If you go over the hill on the four lane boulevard, it costs nothing and takes only 10 minutes!)

  3. The toll road is 95D. It is a very good 4 lane road. Tolls are 504 pesos and takes about 4-5 hours.

There is also a free road, but its is 2 lanes, very bad and takes 15 hours.
