What is the name of the sticker and test that is need in order to drive a dump truck on the highway?

My bf bought a dumptruck to do small concrete side jobs after work. He was told that in order to drive his truck on the highway he needed to carry a "sticker" and in order to abtain that "sticker" he need to pass some kind of safety inspection. We dont know what is the name of the test or sticker or anything....Can some please give me a clue .. We live in the chicago area Thank you

He will need a Class B CDL at the minimum to be on the safe side.  For the dump truck, you are probably thinking of the required DOT inspection (which can be done by a shop that specializes in heavy duty vehicles & done every yr. @the minimum).  The sticker is an IFTA (International Fuel Tax Agreement) sticker, which tells authorities that he is paying his share of highway taxes.  He will have to have insurance, proper permits, base plated, etc., so he isn't taken to the cleaners, if he is stopped by authorities or if he is involved in some sort of claim, whether accident, cargo damage, etc.  Hope I helped!!   3. If you live in a state that requires a annual vehicle inspection then what you most likely will need is a commercial vehicle inspection sticker.....
