What is the name of the sweet egg puffs you can buy from street vendors in Japan?

I could find the puffs at most of the street fairs I went to when we were on vacation in Japan. These are small, soft, slightly sweet, individual egg puffs that are sold in little paper bags.

They look very similar to the eggettes you can buy in Hong Kong: http://blogs.earthlink.net/pix/puff.png.

Does anyone know if they're the same thing? The HK ones look crispier and more waffle-like. Does anyone know where I can find a recipe or a place that sells them in So. Cal?
