What is the name of the toolbar on the bottom right of the computer screen that displays time?

It has a tendency to auto launch some applications so I want to edit what is displayed on that tool bar but I can't figure out how to do it and I can't look it up because I don't know what it's called.

Its just the date and time on the system tray and all it does is display the date and time that its set to.

quick launch toolbar, taskbar and system tray...these are present in the bottom...clock is present in system tray..i think you meant system tray

The area you want to refer to is called the Notification Area of the Taskbar. The Taskbar is the long bar you see at the bottom and the right hand section is called the Notification Area. It is also called the System Tray by some programs.

First of all, it is not the Taskbar (I'm using it for the Notification Area) that auto starts applications, it just shows the applications that are running. It is doing the job of notifying you that the following applications are running. It is just the messenger between the auto starter and the user, ie, you.

To control which programs/applications run on Windows startup you can do the following.

>> Click on Start>Run.

>> Type in msconfig.

>> Now, go over to the Startup tab

>> Here, you'll see a list of programs running on startup.

>> Just untick the items you don't want to auto start and they won't.

>> If you don't know what the program is, just search in google, for example, soundman.exe

There is also another way to hide the unwanted icons on the taskbar. Right click on them and go into the settings or options for that application and change the setting to not to show the taskbar icon.

Or else, if you want some more options, right click in the middle of the bottom bar (I mean the taskbar itself) and click on Properties. In the Notification area section click on the Customize button and make settings appropriate to you.
