I am trying to think of the name of a particular Charles Bukowski poem, and the book(s) I might find it in.

The theme of it - as I remember - is he is walking along the street, down on his luck and dressed in rags when he looks through a restaurant window and sees some wealthy types selecting a live animal to kill (perhaps a crab or something?) for their meal, and Bukowski is disgusted with the people and identifies with the animal.

Thanks in advance for any help.

  1. Hmmm. I don't recall that particular one, but he's one of my favorites.  And, in the Leo tradition, he was "rooting" for the "underdog"  while loathing the pretentious, superficial, clueless, obese and flatulent.  We Leos prefer justice over cretinism, no matter how "wealthy" the cretin.
