I recently went to a Thai restaurant and ordered a noodlely dish that consisted of flat wide noodles, chicken, brocolli, and a thick brownish sauce. I remember it having some weird thai name, but I can't for the life of me remember it. I know it's not pad thai. Does anyone know?

  1. As posted by the previous two, it is Lad Na.

Note that this dish is influenced by Cantonese style hor fun (chow fun) as well. Very similar in preparation and presentation. Several Cantonese noodle dishes are prepared in heavy sauce. Sauce is usually prepared by adding  potato starch or corn starch to the gravy during the final stages of cooking.

  2. It's called "Lad Na", also spelled "Lad Nah"

  3. Was it drunken noodles?

  4. Drunken Noodle, or Pad Kee Mao, is my all-time favorite dish.  I have it for lunch every day.  According to your description here, the significant difference is the "thick brownish sauce"----that is Lad Na/Ladna or sometimes spelled Radna (has to do with how the Thai tend to switch the L and R sounds in their pronunciations), but it's NOT Drunken Noodles.  Lad Na uses similar soysauce and fish sauce ingredients as Pad See Yew and Drunken Noodle, but Lad Na has chicken stock thickened with Tapioca mixed with Maggi Sauce.  And Pad See Yew (the term See Yew means "soysauce") is not the same as Drunken Noodle and it's not Lad Na either.  Both Drunken Noodle and Pad See Yew are "dry stir-fry."  The difference between these 2 is that Drunken Noodle has small Thai chili peppers, fish sauce, vinegar, and sugar, whereas, Pad See Yew is strictly "soysauce stir fry" that is not spicy at all.  Do you remember if it was spicy at all?  It is influenced by the Chinese "chow fun" (stir fry rice noodles), but the main difference is whether it is "wet stir-fry" or "dry stir-fry" and if it's spicy or not.

  5. Lad Na or Pad See Ew
