What is the name of this book? ?

I heard about a book that I wanted to read, but I don't remember the title or author.

It had to do with everyone on earth dying (or something) and once they died they went to a strange place that no one really knew what it was. but they only stayed there for as long as someone on earth still remembered them. then there was only one girl left on earth and eight people in the other place but none of them knew each other and they had to figure out how the girl knew them all. (or something). any information about this book would be extremely helpful, thank you!
