What is the name of this insect species?

My father and I were cleaning around his shed when we found it, and it stuck around long enough for me to get a couple god photos. It was pretty big, and neither of us had any idea what it was. it reminded me of a Junebug, but it was so big and different colours and shape. if you have any idea, let me know. thanks :D

All of your respondents are correct... and it is part of the beetle family.... choleoptera..... beetles are some of the most successful critters on the planet.
