There was a girl and her brother who survive. Her parents end up dead. i think someone breaks in and tortures them or something. All i remember is that it is late night in a home, people break in, and this teenage girl keeps her brother safe while sort of fighting these robbers. For sure, i remember that she hides in the fireplace chute for a bit and the brother at one time or another goes to the garage to call the cops from a carphone.

It could be Hostage (Bruce Willis, Ben Foster).

These three young guys break in this house and one is preeettty crazy.  There is a teen girl and her brother and they both hide.  He calls the negotiator from his sisters cell phone.  Ben Foster, the crazy dude, end up torching the place.
