A PC at my company is infected by a virus that change the year to 2005. Trying to change it back to the correct year will not work. The Antivirus program on that PC cannot detect the virus or remove the virus.

Can anyone tell me what is the name of this virus and the most effective anti-virus program and procedure to remove this virus.

  1. well first use trojan guarder gold version it will remove trojan horse.. and then use spyware terminator. which will remove adware and spyware ..ur comp definitely be ok ..

try googling and u will find both ..

  2. Trojan  Horse  .....  sme  Viruses  will  have  .ddl   to make  it  seem  like  its  ment  to  be  on  your  pc

  3. This is the work of Trojan horse.

Many anti-virus program will not run if they discovered that their anti-virus definition are not the latest.

So the trojan horse reset the PC time to year 2005 to disable the anti-virus.

You will notice that this is not cause by flat battery because when the battery is flat, the date and time will only reset itself when you turn off the PC.

However, when you have a trojan, the date and time will reset to the wrong date one second after you change the date to the correct date.

You should try HijackThis and avast anti-virus.

If this solution cannot work. You must reformat the hard disk and reinstall windows.

  4. I'm not aware of any virus that does that.  On top of that, making a trojan or virus that does that is rather inane.  Viruses & trojans usually are meant to cause file damage, use a computer as a proxy, or transmit sensitive information.

Maybe the battery on the motherboard for the BIOS is dead.  Go into the computer's BIOS settings and try changing the date, then turn off the computer for 10 seconds and turn it back on.

Go back into the BIOS settings and see if the date is set right.  If it isn't, then you know that the battery needs to be replaced.

  5. Try avast. It is a very effective anti-virus program.

  7. it might be a Trojan horse

  8. I second Avast.

I had Pc Tools and AVG and they ran all the time  and never found any viruses.  My computer was acting funny, nothing major but I could just tell the subtle differences, I assumed virus, so I switched to Avast and it found 12 viruses

  9. the number one antivirus available in the market is bit defender Antivirus 2008
