What is the name of those fuzzy things that float around in the air outdoors?

They are white & fluffy. What is the name of these things? My young cousins want to know :)

they are off the thistle flower, we tell our grand kids , they are fairies, the thistle could be the scotch thistle

it's a dandelion clock - they are the seeds of a dandelion....which most see as weeds but can also be consumed as food.  kids love to blow and let them fly in the air...but those who don't want weeds in their yard try to prevent them from touching ground!
