There are actually 7 different Guards Regiments that take it in turn to guard Buckingham Palace: Life Guards; Blues & Royals ( these 2 Regiments together are known as the "Household Cavalry Regiment); and then there are the 5 Regiments of Foot Guards:  Grenadier Guards; Coldstream Guards; Scots Guards; Irish Guards and finally the Welsh Guards. All seven Regiments together are known as "The Household Division"
