  1. My guess is 'the sweater'.

Ireland:  Home of the wool sweater.

  2. It surely must be the humble little donkey

  3. The Stag.

  4. a lephricorn! (don't know how that's actually spelt tho!)

  5. we don't have a specific animal in ireland, what is yours?

  6. Best guess is the irish elk.

    .

  7. We have several ones, the most important ones would be the stag and the salmon.

And Finnbarr is definitely and emphatically right about the bull!

  8. We don't have a national animal. There are many animals that are significan, either becasue they feature in our mythology, or because they are peculier to Ireland. These include the salmon (becasue of the salmon of knowledge), the wolf (a symbol of power and leadership, combined with wildness), the bee (symbol of plenty and a good king), the Irish elk, the Irish hare, And, of course, the bull.

  9. I don't think we have one...

  10. THE PINT = its seen everywhere - even in pubs and is easy to recognise with its white head!

  11. Potato Bug.

  12. stag

  13. oi tink the national animal is a waaaaailing banshee

  14. There is definitely no specific animal which is our national animal.  However, the chicken, the greyhound, the Irish Hare (a breed only found in Ireland) the bull, the salmon and the elk (large deer) all featured on our old coins.  The reason people think it is the stag is that it was a male elk on our one punt (irish pound) coins.

Our national emblem is the shamrock.  We do not, and never did have, snakes!!

  15. Have a look at an aerial view of Ireland and you will see its a teddy, so we need our teddys head back????

  16. The Irish wolfhound or Irish setter is often used as a 'national' animal.

For example the national bus service (Bus Éireann) uses the setter as its emblem.

  17. It used to be snakes.  But some foreigner went and banished them and left christianity instead.  The most apt one for now would be a bull, as an observation on politics.
