  1. I've owned quite a few. They are native to the extreme SW USA and Mexico. They are probably the calmest of all Tarantulas. They are great pets.

    If you want one as a pet they are very inexpensive but you cannot keep them in the same enclosure. They will kill each other unless the Male is in his final molt in which case he will try to mate with the female.

    I used to buy a 20 gallon aquarium and have a piece of custom cut glass to keep them separated. You will need freshwater sand and a cavern log (the pet store owner will know).  You will need a natural sponge and a shallow bowl full of water so they can drink. Their natural food is crickets.

    The only Tarantula that can live in the same tank is the Pink toed Tarantula. As long as they have food (crickets) they will not attack one another.
