Or its pseudonyms. I am sure they have measured electromagnetic fields and tested for particle interaction while someone was attempting to prove telekinetic powers, and not come up with anything, for this would prove telekinesis exists and it would be mainstream.

For everyone who wants to reply, "telekinesis doesn't exist", be my guest, you are preaching to the choir, I am attempting to get believers to think about and justify their beliefs in a more scientific realm, while enlightening us all on their thought processes.

  1. The trick to searching for telekinesis is to use simple tests. Such as a needle on a pivot, and see if anybody can move it using TK.

Attempts to measure electromagnetic fields or infra red or something are too complicated, because they presume that TK already exists. What is needed is simple tests to demonstrate the existence of the phenomenon, before moving to more complicated tests to investigate it.

People have been doing such tests for over a century, and nobody has ever found telekinesis. But this does not prove anything, of course.

Jonquill - my personal favorite is Invisible Thread, available at magic stores. This is a single black nylon fiber, incredibly fine. I can barely see it at a range of 6 inches! There is no way it would show up on video. A nice trick is to fasten it to your credit card in a restaurant, then when the waitress comes to pick up the card, it flies into the air! Then you say somethinig like "I never saw it do that before".

  2. This is a great question and one I've asked here in the past. I always hold out hope that someone will come along who gives a science based answer, but even after some coaching as to what science is, I was left with answers that were just hand-waving. You're right, there have been no measurable forces which have come about as part of paranormal testing, but instead only dubious statistics regarding the results random number generators which seem to belong in the realm of pathological science.

Prof. Michio Kaku delves into this very question in his book, "Physics of the Impossible", which I linked below.  If telekinesis exists as described by believers, it's a force that is unknown to physicists today. Now, that's not necessarily a show-stopper since scientific knowledge by its very nature is always open to revision, but if you're going to propose that there are is an additional force in this universe aside from gravity, electromagnetic, strong and weak nuclear forces, you've have perhaps one of the most extraordinary claims in all of science itself. And I don't need to say what burden of evidence this bears.

I hope to see some good scientific answers from the believers and with a minimal amount of conjecture and hand-waving.  I suspect my hopes will be dashed.

  3. Pineal gland related and yet also related to the biofield or energy field which surrounds living things.

The force applied is energetic and unseen. It may read on EM meters...but I would tend to think this would be a harmonic from it's true nature. I strongly believe that all ESP abilities are defined in the source called "The Field".

Lynne McTaggart's book called The Field talks about it wisely.

Sometimes TK can be spontaneous in a developing individual. Sometimes not. I believe Tibetan monks or Chi Gong persons (if I got the name right) have adapted their skills greatly so.

In the beginning, the TK is happening without a person being aware or they are aware but not in control.

  4. i have heard that it has something to do with using a larger persentage of the brain than the average person. i dont know if thats true or not though. i've never experienced it or seen anyone else do it before so i dont know if its even possible. most likely its not.

  5. What is the nature of gravity? I believe it exists but  no scientist has ever been able to give anything more than a wavering suggestion of what it is.

  6. The forces of air pressure, static electricity, magnets and string have all been used with good effect to demonstrate the ability of telekinesis.

  7. Telekinetics is now called psychokinetics in pseudo-scientific literature. There is no mechanism able to supply any such force. Not in human beings anyway.
