  1. it probably isn't going to be a safe place if im being honest.  though it does depend on the guys on board, how attractive you are, and how long ur out at sea (away from ports and their women).  I would suggest joining the air force, in the US at least that's where the most women are, and so probably where you would be safest.

  2. Firstly, if you are thinking of joining the Royal Navy after Christmas, you need to begin the application process now - if you wish to join as  a rating, you will need to do an initial introduction, formal Entry Test, Interview, Medical and Eye Test and go through Security Clearance.  At that point you will be given an entry date for Basic Training.  You need to start the ball rolling now by contacting the Royal Navy via:

It is not dangerous for women to join the Royal Navy!  I visit ships with my partner, who is a RN Officer, and I meet lots of women on board - there are far more of them than you think - none of them has ever said that they felt that there was any danger.  Men and women get on well on board ship and, as far as I can see, the men treat them very respectfully.  Don't forget that many of the senior staff will be women too!  Anyway, there are strict rules about serving on board RN ships and any men involved in violent acts towards the women on board would be very strictly disciplined and taken off the ship immediately.  To be honest, you are much, much safer on board a RN ship than you are walking around London!

Once you have started your application, you should be given the opportunity to go on short "Acquaint Courses" when you will meet up with women serving in the Royal Navy.  Your Careers Advisor will arrange these things for you.

I'm not in the Royal Navy myself, but it is a very good career for women and you should enquire about it soon as you can.

    Good Luck!
