  1. They are the right descriptions of each rate... DP or Data Processing Technician was taught in San Diego California and it evolved into IT (information technology) with the RM (Radioman rating).  Not sure if IT is still a rate (or MOS) still.

I held the NEC (Navy Enlisted Classification code) 0000 and 2735 as a DP.

  2. DP1 Data Processing Technician First Class

    SK3 Storekeeper Third Class

  3. DP1 is an E6 (Staff Sergeant in the Army/Marines)

    SK3 is an E4 (Corporal/Specialist)

The letters DP stood for Data Processing Technician. The rate (mos) is no longer use today. It is old-school navy/

SK is for the Store Keeper rate.

In the Navy they combine the Rate and pay-grade.

I was an HM1 when I got out. Therefore I was equal to the DP1. We were both Petty Officers First Class (that is where the 1 came from) only I was a Hospital Corpsman, instead of a Data Processing Tech.

A SK3 is the same as a QM3 or a HM3 or BM3 all are different jobs but the 3 means Petty Officer 3rd class. and they all are E4.

Just think that the Navy uses the MOS in the rank title. It is easy to figure out once you get used to it.

  4. Google "U.S. Navy enlisted ratings" and you will find more information about your question.

I don't think I"ve ever seen DP before, but it's been awhile since I was in the Navy. The SK is for "Storekeeper" which is another term for supply and logistics. the "1" and "3" are pay-grades, Petty Officer First Class, etc.
