What is the nearest racecourse(Horse) to Blackpool

Haydock park is the closest to Blackpool. it approx half an hour away down the M6.

Then next is Aintree and then Chester. Chester has racing this Sunday and a childrens fun day (just thought I'd add that snippet in the vain hope of getting voted best answer)

From what I can see the two tracks with meetings that week are Chester  21st evening(about 1 1/2 hrs drive.)

and Cartmel 23rd and 25th. (about 1 1/4 hrs drive.)

Cartmel will be a summer National Hunt (ie.jumps) meeting.

Chester is flat racing.

I would imagine Cartmel would not be as busy as Chester as the main National Hunt season is in the winter.I've never been to Cartmel course though I would imagine it to be a little more 'tweedy' than Chester which is quite dressy.

Chester is a lovely course .

Check dress codes before you go.

Catterick,York and Ripon are all about two hours away and also have meetings that week .
