Question:

What is the new Ofsted "light touch" like to go through?

Our school is about to go through an Ofsted inspection this week and I was wondering what way the new inspections are done. How do they choose which departments to look at, or will it be random? I know what the old format was like but wondering about the light touch approach.

Any feedback would be appreciated

Thanks

  1. they still look at

    planning

    actual teaching

and lots of targets (which can fit to match)

OFsted is a waste of time. The teachers panic before their arrival. All so called normal teaching goes out of the window and "proper teaching" starts. Our school runs like clock work when an inspection is due. I think all inspections should be done without notice. Inspectors should pretend to be parents and have a look around school.

  2. Our school is due an inspection next week also . we had a mini inspection in the foundation unit in October because we had only been up and running for 1 year. They looked at all the planning and targets set, all policies, displays etc. They spoke to the team leader and watched her in a lesson which i supported but they didn't speak personally to me (teaching assistant) so we are hoping they will spend more time in school and just wander in and out of the unit but i think that is wish full thinking. Good luck with your inspection
