What is the nightlife like in Lloret de mar???

Hi Sammie, I have NO idea how old you are but let me tell you that Lloret del Mar is one of the most popular places for young people to spend their vacations. You will find lotsa different nationalities overthere( lotsa germans/british/dutch and scandinavians).

So if you are looking for a "quiet" time just do not go there as the nightlife is mainly bars and clubbing. If that is what you are looking for well you found the right place.

Hello Sammie. If it's nightlife you're looking for, Lloret is sure to have something for you.

It does appeal to a younger crowd and I'm sure you'll have a brilliant time there.

Lloret is THE undisputed nightlife capital of the Costa Brava. Many cultured and superior beings have referred to it as "vulgar", "tacky" and "lager loutish". However you describe it the nightlife here is exactly what hundreds of thousands of foreign holidaymakers are looking for. There are Brit bars, German beer kellers, burger joints galore and all-night clubs where you can bop till you drop.

You don' go here looking for string quartets and chamber music! But if it's karaoke, flamenco, hip hop or blackjack you're after.well, you've come to the right place.

The place is literally bursting with late night music bars and nightclubs.

One of the best known clubs is Tropics which has two dance floors, five bars and impressive laser shows all set in elaborate tropical surroundings. The disco attracts some big name DJs each summer and provides music for all tastes - house, mellow, trance, swing, hip hop and blasts from the past.

Bumper's Disco in Placa del Carme is a Caribbean style affair with tropical palm trees (some more than a hundred years old) and a glass dance floor with fish underneath your feet! The tropical birds, cocktail bar and bamboo cabins all add to the "Jamaica Mon" ambience.

The Hollywood Dance Club in Carrer Esports, at the Carrer Girona junction on the edge of town, is another popular all night haunt open from 10pm till 5am.

During the summer months, reps of the top clubs in town tour the streets thrusting free tickets at beautiful young things (especially those who happen to be female and trendy with it).

On the road to Blanes you'll find Casino Lloret de Mar where you can risk your money at the gambling tables which include French and American roulette, blackjack and chemin de fer. The casino stays open until 4am on weekdays and until 5am at weekends. You'll need your passport to gain entry.

As far as eating out goes, Lloret is awash with international bars and restaurants serving everything from good old English pie and chips to cheap Chinkies, Indonesian, German and Italian food.

Several hotels and restaurants organise dinner shows with flamenco and cabaret acts. Hotel Guitart Central Park has a nightly flamenco show during high season and La Masia, five kilometres from Lloret at Tordera, puts on a popular Catalan dinner show with traditional Spanish music and dancing.

La Siesta is a lovely 17th century Catalan farmhouse set in 12,000 acres of beautiful grounds on a hillside between Lloret and the nearby town of Santa Susanna. Here you can take a break from the frantic nightlife of Lloret and enjoy a peaceful dinner or one of the barbecues, concerts and shows which are held during high season.

Take to the back streets of Lloret to sample typical Catalan dishes such as the arroz ***** (black rice flavoured with squid's ink!), suquet (fish and potatoes) or crema catalan (similar to the French crème caramel).

You're probably not heading to Lloret for its cultural scene but if you're in town during one of the local fiestas take the opportunity to join in a traditional Spanish knees-up. These people really know how to party with colourful parades, processions, fireworks and dancing in the streets.

There's a fiesta here practically every month of the year - you'll be able to get hold of detailed programmes from the local tourist information office. One of the biggest celebrations, the feast of Santa Cristina, takes place in July in honour of the town's patron saint. This involves a procession out to sea, the preparation of a huge country stew with helpings for everyone, a performance of the traditional "Dansa de les Almorratxes" and a big firework display
