  1. Posology and method of administration

Seroquel should be administered twice a day, irrespective of the meals.

    Adults

The daily dose for the first four days of therapy is 50 mg (1 Day), 100 mg (2 Day), 200 mg (3 Day) and 300 mg (4 Day).

From Day 4 onwards the recommended daily dose is 300 mg. However, this dose can be varied depending on the clinical response and tolerability of each individual patient within a range of 150-750 mg / day.

  2. You need to ask your doctor this question.  Bottom line is--take it EXACTLY as prescribed.  If you're unsure about something, talk to your pharmacist if you can't get your doctor on the phone, but don't make any dosing changes, especially to a mental health drug, without getting your doctor's approval.

The life you save may be your own--or mine.

  3. Yikes, be very careful.  Seroquel can have some wicked side effects.  200mg which is a beginners dose should do the trick.  If you take large amounts your muscles can hurt, shake, etc you won't be able to sleep at all.  Talk to you psychiatrist if it isn't working for you.  Maybe you need something like Deseryl.

  4. It depends on what you are trying to treat, what other meds you are on, and how your body responds.  For sleep, it could be as little as 12.5mg.  For anxiety, it could start there, too.  Both of these are apt to top out at 100mg as most prescribed.  For depression, probably from 75-300mg.  For, schizophrenia, manufacturer recommended amount is 200-400mg.  For bipolar, it really varies from 25-800mg depending on mood state, other meds, if it's maintenance, and how your body gets along with it.  I've been taking 75mg with other medication.  Lowering has made me start to cycle (bipolar).  I'm now trying to switch off due to the sedation, but a lot of that is because the rest of my medication is very sedating, too.
