What is the normal rate of eye pressure?

How can Glaucoma be controlled? My EP is around 20.Will it affect treaditionally?

Eye pressure is measured in units called millimeters of mercury.  Normal eye pressure has a range of 10 to 20. (compare this to normal blood pressure of 120/80.) Interestingly eye pressure does vary  1 to 3 millimeters during systole and diastole. However in most clinic practices an average pressure is determined.

Eye pressures vary during the course of the day. This is called diurnal variation.  Pressures tend to be higher at night, when sleeping and while the body is supine. If you have glaucoma it is important to be on treatment that is effective for these night time pressure increases.   Not all glaucoma medications are equally effective in the evening.

There are several different ways to measure eye pressure, sometime referred to as intraocular pressure or IOP.

Being as your reading is on the higher side, I would see your ophthalmologist to adjust your eye drops or consider using a different kind.

Glaucoma is a group of diseases in which the pressure in the eye is higher than that particular eye can tolerate. A higher than normal pressure causes damage to the very sensitive optic nerve at the retina. Loss of sight may occur gradually or in rare cases, suddenly if glaucoma is not controlled.

In a rare form of glaucoma, acute glaucoma, there is severe pain, headache and nausea. In the more common chronic form, symptoms are rare and loss of sight occurs Glaucoma occurs when the body produces too much fluid (aqueous humor) inside the eye or when normal drainage of the fluid does not filter out of the eye adequately.
