It runs between 185-215 when warmed up. Is this normal?

  1. it's normal...if you sit in long traffic it can go 225~230 that's when it's REALLY hot and boarderlining over heat~ ... I'd just take the emergency lane or skip over to the HOV lane to keep moving

  2. That sounds about right If you are talking fahrenheit, but quite hot if celsius.  The temp gauge should have a "red zone" or if there is no gauge there should be a warning light.  Those should tell you the situation.

for reference, I happen to remember that my 86 ninja thermostat opened at around 160 F, 73 C (thermostat would open when almost fully warmed up)  and my 85 eliminator coolant warning light comes on at 248 F, 120 C

So once again, if youre talking fahrenheit you should be OK, but if you're talking Celsius you should have noticed your body panels melting into a pool around your bike.

  3. That sounds about right. For my 2000 ZX9R the fan doesn't kick on till 215 and the overheating light is supposed to kick on around 240.
