What is the normal water loss in a hot tub?

I just got a used hot tub about a month ago. It had 2 leaks in it and i repaiired one of them( the really bad one). Now it is getn up to over a 100 degrees outside and I noticed there is a inch drop per day. Is this normal, what is average water loss at 100 degrees outside????

  1. Does it have a cover?  If so you should not loose a noticealbe amount .

    If uncovered an inch a day is still a lot.


  2. that is totally unacceptable. You either have a major leak yet or don't have a cover. Look around it for water on the ground or cement depending on what you have it sitting on. I found most hot tub leaks are on the side of the step where everyone climbs in and out. With the hot tub off. look straight down thru the water at the sides for a small dark line that looks like a pencil line. If you run your thumbnail across it sideways then you will see that it is a crack. there are many products out there that will permanently seal a crack but the liquid stuff you pour into the hot tub don't work most of the time.  

  3. There should be none noticeable.
