When people buy shoes, for example, is one noticeably tighter than the other?

Do some people have to buy two pairs of shoes of different sizes and wear one shoe from each pair just so they fit well on their left and right feet?

  1. 100%...

Because the heart is slightly on the left side of the body, the left foot is slightly more swollen than the right foot...

  2. I don't know the % of people with different sizes between their feet. I used to work in a shoe department and my manager had two very different size feet. One foot was a size 71/2 and the other was a 81/2.  She just bought one pair of shoes and her shoe would always flop when she walked. She said that she didn't see the point in trying to wear the right size for each foot.

I on the other hand, are one of those people whose feet are the same size. Glad I'm not her!

  3. When I buy shoes I have to make sure that they fit my right foot as it is a bit longer than the left. The left foot just has to deal with the shoe being a bit loose : ) Would be good if I could find a girl with similar taste who has a left foot as big as my right foot  and a right foot as big as my left foot so that we could swap half a pair.

  4. . Jamie was just guessing, which was kind of close.

Read the web sites: "...you should know that 60% of the population have different size feet that we will pick up when measuring. Contrary to popular belief, the left foot is 80% of the time, the larger foot.

...In other words, you will ignore the difference and fit the larger foot.

The one problem with custom make up shoes is that there can not be a refund.  Once made, they are made to your order and the factory will not take them back.  Therefore you have to know the length and width of each foot and order the sizes correctly."

The hersey site says: "...Different size shoes for different size feet. It's very common for one person to have different size feet. But have you ever tried to buy two different sizes in a store without buying two pair and shuffling them around? " ..

... so when they say "It;s very common" , the 60% figure is probably right.  .

  5. 34.6% of the population has noticeable size differences between their left and right feet

  6. I don't know the %, but I am one of them. One foot is a half inch longer than the other so that is the foot the show must fit. The other foot just has a lot of room. I could never wear heels. Sandals are great though.

This is all I could find online:

    # Shopping for shoes is best done in the afternoon, says the American Podiatric Medical Association. Your feet tend to swell a little during the day, and it's best to buy shoes to fit them then. Have your feet measured everytime you purchase shoes, and do it while you're standing. When you try on shoes, try them on both feet; many people have one foot larger than the other, and it's best to fit the larger one.
