  1. its gaelic

  2. Actually there is no official language for Ireland. Ireland is an island with two seperate states - Northern Ireland - part of the UK - and the Republic of Ireland. The answers given so far fully represent the state known as the Republic of Ireland. Northern Ireland has three official languages - the two already mentioned and Ulster-Scots.

  3. Official- English

    Native- Gaeilge (Irish)

Most counties speak in english but over in the Ghaeltacht regions ( connemara, galway, mayo etc (the west) speak gaeilge)

I think its something like 10.4% of people that can speak gaeilge fluently.

    (",)

  4. English and Gaelic.

Children are required to learn Gaelic up until 17.

  5. the 2 official languages of ireland are irish (gaeilge) and english... english is the most commonly used but about 40% of people in ireland said in the last census that they could understand irish with a decent degree of accuracy... and the facts are correct as 'ireland' is the official name of the 26 counties... 'republic of ireland' is a description incorrectly used as the name

  6. it may be Irish

    but everyone speaks English

    so go figure

  7. ireland has 2 official languages: irish (gaeilge), referred to as "the first official language", and english. laws etc are published in both languages but in the event of a legal challenge or interpretation the irish version has precedence over the english.

Check out the irish language website:  http://www.forasnagaeilge.ie/default1.as...

  8. Irish is our official first language (only about 5% use it as their first language though!), and then our 2nd official language is English and I'd guess about 85% use it as their first language, with the remaining 10% using the language of their native country as their first language (Polish, Russian etc.)

  9. The official Language is English; however, one of the only places in Ireland where they speak Gaelic is on the Aran Islands.

If you plan to visit Ireland though, you can expect many of the road signs, menus, etc... to be in English first, then Gaelic.

    Slainte!

  10. the official language is actually Irish but everybody(except some immigrants, obviously) speak English so it doesn't really matter how many speak Irish.
