What is the official language in Galway?do i have to know lots of irish to work there?

I have heard Galway is a bilingual city where English and Irish are spoken almost everywhere.Where could I go to learn the proper Irish in Galway?Could I get a job there though I only speak English?What kind of jobs could I get?

    I've never actually heard anyone speak Irish in Galway.  I'm sure it happens, I've just never heard it.  You won't have a problem.


  2. Lol, everyone in Galway speaks English. There are Irish-speakers too, but English is far more widely spoken. You can be pretty sure that anyone you meet who speaks Irish also speaks English and probably speaks English better than Irish. As regards jobs, I don't know what you're qualified for, but lack of Irish-speaking ability will not hold you back in any way.

    One word of advice: Don't drink the water!
