What is the orange wire for on the sony xplod head unit model CDX FW500?

It is connected to the back next to a yellow cord.

i guess that`s for the remote that connects to an amplifier so that if you turn the head unit on,it turns the amplifier on as well..........

Here is the installation manual for your Sony. It doesn't show an orange wire, but does have a red switched 12 volt line.

the orange wire on the back is usually the dimmer switch for the radio. you wont have to connect it to anything just cap it off.
