There's a Yahoo! group at this link for those who are researching the Moniac surname:  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/RTMS/  If you're not already a member of that group, you may want to join.  Evidently the person who wrote the content on that page believes the surname is associated with the Muscogee Creek Nation.  

This Genealogy.com message board shows that at least one other researcher believes Jacob Moniac traded with the Creek Indians, but came from Holland or Germany:  http://genforum.genealogy.com/moniac/mes... -- again, you could post a reply and/or your own message on that Moniac board to hook up with others researching the same surname.
