  1. Samuel Adams

  2.   Federalism became the USA's formal system of government when the

Articles of Confederation were scrapped and the Constitution, which

the USA government currently uses was adopted. The genius of

Federalism is that it let's the states handle local issues, like

marriage, divorce, education, driving licenses, and alcohol use. The

National or Federal Government handles national issues like

interstate and foreign trade, a common currency, making war and

peace, having a post office or stuff which involves all the states.

In theory before the Revolutionary War, England up till 1763 let the

13 colonies by and large run their own local affairs with little

interference from England. it was called salutory neglect. The English

were only concerned with the colonies trade and defense, everything

else was run by the 13 colonial governments. It was as a result of the

crushing debt England incurred as a result of fighting and winning the

French and Indian War, or the 7 years war, that England tried to

directly control their colonies. You know how that worked. The

      Americans declared themselves independent.

So Federalism is still in effect today. Check your driving license and

if you graduated from a public high school your diploma. If your

married or divorced check the legal documents.Foe national Powers

check your money, post office, and weights and measurements for

examples of the National Government's power.

                        hope that helps. Packers.
