  1. idk

  2. I'm going to take a shot in the dark on this one...

With the "back" positions being designated by their starting location.  We have the Fullback (who starts WAY in the backfield) ... and Halfback (who's roughly half the distance as the fullback) guess naming the player who's even closer than the halfback to the line of scrimage the "Quarterback" made natural sense.

Fullback - all the way back

    Halfback - halfway back

Quarterback - a quarter of the way back

  3. Some guy stole this other guys quarter, but he changed his mind and said to the guy "here you can have your d**n quarter back" and threw it to him.

  4. he was that bad he had to give a quater bak to the coach    that was alot of money in 1900 so they kept the name

  5. Positions in terms of behind the forwards. It's from rugby. Rugby also has a five eighths position (and three quarters back)...so you can see their affinity for fractions.

The terms stuck when Rugby evolved into our current American Football game, but they were originally coined from Rugby.

  6. Their position on the field, such as fullbacks, cornerbacks etc.

  7. you are in the wrong area you want football for a quartereback cause rugby is to good to have quarterbacks that act like pansy and hid behind 4 people to throw the ball

  8. every postion has to do with old coins,, nickleback, half back, fullback. dunno what thy mean tho

  9. Origin of term

The term quarterback has its origin in Scottish Rugby, wherein backfield players, according to their customary distance behind the forwards, were designated "quarter back" (i.e. ¼ of the way back), "halfback", and "fullback".[citation needed] Eventually in rugby the English-Irish nomenclature prevailed, with halfback, three-quarters back, and fullback; in some places, notably New Zealand, the term "five-eighths back" is used as well.

  10. In a traditional I formation back in the day, you had the quarterback, then the halfback, then the fullback. Things have changed since then, but it was how far back they were. A lot of positions are locations: Linebacker (in back of the line), Lineman (on the line), Cornerback (in the corner), Tight end (on the end of the line, but in tight) Split End (split out wide on the end), Flanker (flanks the line), Center (in the middle). Yeah

  11. hmmm im not sure how answer that as in league we dont have them... maybe put ur question somewhere else next time...
