Antoine de La Mothe, Sieyr de Cadillac who founded the company, though many believe the crest is a fake, created for the purposes of the company's logo. The symbol of the wreath surrounding the crest is uncertain but the original wreath design was a bouquet of tulipped leaves.


  2. It's the crest of the Cadillac family that were the first to settle in Detroit.

    Detroit was founded in 1701 by the Frenchman Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac.
