You know the ones, the circles with arrows coming out from them?What is the meaning behind them and how did they become to be?

  1. Gerd Arntz, an illustrator, worked with Otto Neurath, a social scientist, to create over 4000 Isotypes in the1930s. He can make a serious claim to being the inventor of the modern stick figure. He attacked the corruption of German society as the n***s rose to power, then joined Neurath in an attempt to create a transnational visual language that bore later fruit in Otl Aicher's 1972 Olympic pictograms and the AIGA passenger/pedestrian symbol signs.

    The figures themselves are representative of male and female.

  3. I thought I heard somewhere that the female one had to deal with   some Greek goddess holding up a mirror to look at herself.  Or I could have just made that up.
