What is the origin of the phrase "I can see my house from here"... ?

I mean, I'm sure it can't be just a coincidence that so many people say that when the are high above the ground.

  1. When Jesus was being crucified he leaned down from the cross to someone passing by and said "I can see your house from here.".


  2. It is an observation not a quotation. Nowadays with google you can zero in on your home from anywhere. I suppose we say it because our homes are the most important landmarks in our lives.
