I come from the Lison family which came from somewhere in Eastern Europe/Russia. We are positive that the name is not related to the French variation. I've also heard it may be Czech, from "lis" meaning fox. Anyone know?

  1. "lis" is not the word for a fox in Czech... it's actually "LIÅ KA"

  2. This is all I could find for you.

    Lison Name Meaning and History

English (of Norman origin): habitational name from Lison in Calvados, France.

Perhaps also Czech or Slovak, a derivative of lis ‘fox’ (see Lis).
