I saw it on an argentinian composer named luis enriquez bacalov. The first names there match up, but the last has an eastern european feel to it. anyone know where this name comes from?

  1. Swanstrom is Swedish.  Strom means stream and swan means stream.  A lot of Swedish names have this element.  When the Swedes had to adopt last names, or when they migrated, they frequently took a topographical name.  My own Swedish ancestors took Sjoberg-sea mount.

Bacalov certainly sounds middle European, but could not find a source for it.

  2. Bakal on Macedonian means saler in store for food, but Macedonian surnames over usually with vski, like Bakalovski.
